If you want to have a discussion about Health care ( a topic that is intricately woven into the fabric of our families and communities) it helps to have someone available with a long tenure of caring FOR those families and their community.  One would be hard pressed to find anyone with better credentials for this task in Sauk County than Dr. John McAuliffe.

Born in Blair, Wisconsin, he earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison, in Madison, Wisconsin.  He continued on to earn his doctorate at the UW’s Medical School in 1973 and served 5 years in the Military in the Army Medical Core.   Dr. McAuliffe has acted as the Medical Director and Chief of Staff of the Sauk Prairie Healthcare several times, which has been one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation for several years.

He lectures throughout the State of Wisconsin on the importance of wellness and physical fitness.  He has been very involved in the care of those suffering addictions, in the local H.E.L.P (Health, Education, Law Enforcement, Psychosocial) program, the Tri-County MATRS (Medication Assisted Treatment Recovery) program, as well as leading Prairie Clinic’s Vivitrol/Suboxone program and has spoken to local TV news several times regarding his passion for this population.
