Show Notes

On a chilly winter morning in 2012, Bill Harris, the founder of People Helping People, watched a group of homeless men leave the Baraboo Warming Center and walk down the street with nowhere to go and nothing to do. He envisioned creating an entry-level job-training program where they could learn a skill, get jobs and support themselves. PHP volunteers redoubled their fundraising efforts and were able to buy and renovate a modest headquarters building in downtown Baraboo in 2015 from which Bill and I were able to record this interview on Dec 28th of 2020.

If you want to have a “shot in the arm” that will dissipate any cloudy day blues, you need to sit down and talk with the Reverend Bill Harris for a couple minutes.  If you do, it's almost impossible to NOT catch the "fire" that comes from being around a man that puts hands and feet to the Gospel of Christ with every moment of his life.  As the CEO of People helping People in Baraboo, he was the PERFECT guest to wrap up my first season of Podcasts for “Frame of Reference”.  Listen to find out more about all the fantastic work that is being done through their Adopt a Family, Adopt a Soldier, Stomp out Hunger, School Supply, and Work Ready Programs“. Plus hear the personal testimony of one of the recent graduates of the Work Ready Program, Nathan Tolliver, as he describes what the program has meant to him and his family.  Join us, as we celebrate a successful year at PHP in spite of the chaos in our pandemic riddled world.
